Creating Pinterest Rich Pins for Zazzle with your Affiliate ID
Since I had a Zazzle acoount for a while and a new Pinterest account, I wanted to find out more about how to promote Zazzle products with Pinterest- mine and others. At first I used Zazzle’s Pinterest button under Share Link. But, for my own products it was not producing Rich Pins.
What are Rich Pins?
In a regular Zazzle product pin, you will only see the photo, its URL address and the title of the main company selling the product (Zazzle in this case).
In Pinterest, rich pins add or allow you to add specific details to a product you are selling, such as its current price, description and title.
You will need to add or convert to a business account in order to enable Rich Pins. More information is at the Rich Pins page at Pinterest. Zazzle product pages are already compatible with the Product Rich Pin type.
Pinning from Zazzle’s Share This link
When starting, you will want to be signed in to both Zazzle and Pinterest.
As described earlier, when creating new Pins for some of my products, I used the Share This link underneath each product. However, it was not creating Rich Pins for my products, but it was automatically adding my affiliate referral ID. For products from other stores, the pinning was showing correctly.
This method is as good as the method described below if you don’t want a Pinterest business account but still want to promote a product with your affiliate ID attached.
Creating a Zazzle Rich Pin in Pinterest
This second method will create a Rich Pin from within Pinterest instead of Zazzle and it works correctly.
All credit for the following method goes to the video Getting Rich Pins for Zazzle products… by HightonRidley, shown below. I updated to reflect Pinterest’s latest interface.
Obtaining your Affiliate ID
While logged in to Zazzle, go to your Accounts home page, then go to the Associates tab. At the top of the page, you will see your affiliate ID. You can copy this and paste it into a new file for reference later.
Create a new Pin in Pinterest
For this example, you can choose one of your own Zazzle products.
The next step is to highlight the product URL and copy it.
Then within Pinterest, make sure you are on your Business Hub page. Create a Pin as shown in the screenshot below.
From this point click Save from Site.
Next, Paste your product URL into the lower left text box. At the end of the URL add ?rf= followed by your affiliate ID. Then click the button to the right of the text box.
From this point you are presented with images from the page. Select the image for your product and Add to Pin.
You will also need to copy and paste the product title and description. These are editable if you if want to adjust them.
See your new Rich Pin
Once the Pin is completed, you will see details like the price, your added title and most importantly your referral code applied when you hover over the image. I blurred out my affiliate referral for security purposes.
Conclusion
The good thing about Product Pins is that people who may shop on Pinterest will find pertinent information at a glance. And that is all there is to creating Rich Pins for your Zazzle products!
